Stop Being Selfish and Get Your Planning Done

The problem today is that while we can make plans for unforeseen future events, we don’t want to get out of our comfort zone and so instead we stay in our safety cocoon. We hem and haw and hope for the best. Maybe even gleefully saying, “What do I care? I won’t be here” to our children.

And the reality is, that’s super selfish. You know that’s not really the legacy you want to leave your family. You know that you’d rather create a plan for your future and make it easy on your family to know what your wishes are and then to carry them out.

As far as we know, humans are the only species on the planet that is able to contemplate its own demise. It may not seem it, but this really is a gift – to be able to make plans now for the inevitability of the future.

And at the same time… it sucks big time!

Guess what!?

Having a few emergency plans in place for the “what ifs” and “might happens” in life doesn’t need to be a horrible, I’d-rather-get-a-root-canal experience. If you’re like most people, you have been putting things off because you felt you didn’t have the time, or maybe you’re struggling to figure something out, and think you have to have it all figured out before taking the first step.

Time to roll up your sleeves and get started!

(It’ll be pretty painless, I promise! You might even have some fun. Really!)

Because you’ve been putting this off, the task of creating your estate plan has probably taken on epic proportions in your head. You don’t know what the process looks like so you’ve been creating roadblocks to keep you stuck.

Deep breath! It doesn’t have to be that way.

This is why we developed our Good Guardian Planning System. And we meet in virtual conference rooms (using your smart phone or computer) so you save time, not having to schlepp to an office somewhere, and it’s easier to work around your schedule. (Want to know the advantages of a virtual attorney meeting? Check out this article!)

Our office has created a system that allows you to know what “finished” looks like so estate planning doesn’t become an endless endeavor. And a lot of the “work” has been turned into a spy sleuthing game. You’ll know exactly what steps to take – and how many steps are left in the process – and there are even prizes for winning!

Imagine how good it will feel when you can look at your finished estate plan and say, “Yes! I adulted well today. I’m not gonna be anyone’s problem now. I’ve got a plan.”

Want to learn more in a non-threatening, no commitment kind of way? Consider visiting our office on Tuesday, April 24th at 5:30 p.m. We’ll have snacks, a way to experience a little of the Good Guardian Planning System, and undoubtedly some adult beverages too. Give us a call, shoot us an email, or head over here to let us know you’d like to come by:

Don’t be selfish. Take the first step and we’ll help you with everything else.
